Although, entry requirements are generally determined by individual employers, an apprentice might be expected to already have 5 GCSEs (A*-C). Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve these prior to the end point assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeship’s English and maths minimum requirement is Level 3. A British Sign Language qualification is an alternative to English qualifications for whom this is their primary language.
An IT Solutions Technician applies a professional methodology or framework to gather and analyse requirements. These include designing, developing, testing and implementing IT solutions, while also providing ongoing support both directly to end users and for the underlying IT services. The specific tasks undertaken will vary depending on what needs to be achieved by the team at any particular time. Some tasks might be technical, while others have the potential to be more analytical, or business or user focused.
As the apprentices progress through the course and take on more responsibility, they will work on the team’s core activities and undertake duties across the complete IT solution.
If you’re looking to build your skills through professional training and on-the-job experience, an apprenticeship could point you in the right direction!
